Atlus and Vanillaware Are Teaming Up for an HD Project
Atlus has teased an HD collaboration with Vanillaware, the developer of Dragon's Crown, Odin Sphere, and GrimGrimoire.
We don't yet know whether this project is an entirely new game or an HD remake of an older project, but an image on the teaser site suggests we'll find out more details "from Boston" on July 20.

Destiny 2.0 Weapon Tuning Nerfs Gjallarhorn, Ice Breaker and More
Destiny will soon receive a major rebalance across all weapon types with an upcoming weapon tuning update, affecting some of the best loved weapons in the sci-fi shooter.
The Gjallarhorn, easily the most popular heavy weapon in PVE, is being nerfed in the hope of ending exclusion of players in Raid groups who do not have the powerful rocket launcher.
"If Destiny had a nuke it would be the 'Ballerhorn.' We definitely intended to have a high damage Heavy Weapon that was ideal for PvE destruction," sandbox designer Jon Weisnewski writes on the Destiny blog. "What we did not intend, and what we unfortunately saw, was pick up Raid and Nightfall groups gating participation based on whether or not players had this weapon.

Arkham Knight Was June's Best Selling Game
Batman: Arkham Knight took the top spot for the month of June, according to the NPD Group.
Following behind the newly released Batman game was Elder Scrolls: Tamriel Unlimited, which hit both Xbox One and PS4 after having already been available on PC. Batman: Arkham Knight took the top spot "with just 12 days of sales" and is also the second highest-selling game so far in 2015.
The PS4 Batman SKU helped push both the PS4 and Batman to the tops of the hardware and software lists. In fact, the PS4 Batman SKU had the "highest sales for a single SKU across any Batman game" since NPD has been tracking the gaming industry.
Hanging on in the middle of the pack was Splatoon, which planted its tentacles firmly at place number 5, the same spot it held in last month's NPD. Splatoon was also the only Wii U exclusive title on the list.

Furious 4 'Not a Thing Anymore', Became Battleborn Instead
Long-missing Gearbox Software title Furious 4 eventually became the game we now know as Battleborn.
That's according to president Randy Pitchford, who spoke to IGN at Develop: Brighton about the state of the one-time Brothers in Arms title and why its character Montana can now be found in Battleborn.
"So the thing about that… Furious 4 is not a thing anymore, right?" Pitchford says. "Creative development is a trip. The idea that something that started as a Brothers in Arms game through some absurd convolution ended up as Battleborn is evidence of what’s possible."

Randy Pitchford Teases the Future of Borderlands
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has revealed people are working on stuff for future Borderlands titles at the studio, though how these will be used remains to be seen.
Speaking to IGN at Develop: Brighton, Pitchford acknowledged there'd "almost certainly" be more Borderlands, but the team was still unclear on what form this would take.
"Probably not," he responded if news of a new title was imminent. "It depends on how you define soon. There’ll almost certainly be more Borderlands, but we need to figure out what that is. I don’t even know if it’s Borderlands 3, but yeah. There are people working on Borderlands things for the future at Gearbox but we haven’t announced anything yet.

Telltale Game of Thrones Episode 5 Release Date Arrives
Telltale has announced the penultimate chapter in its Game of Thrones series, A Nest of Vipers, will be available starting next week.
The episode will land on PC/Mac, PS3 and PS4 on July 21, with the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions coming the day after on July 22. Finally, iOS and Android editions will arrive on July 23.

Never Alone Getting DLC Titled Foxtales
E-Line Games has announced that Never Alone will be getting a major DLC expansion.
Titled Never Alone: Foxtales, it will feature three new levels inspired by the native Alaskan story 'The Two Coastal Brothers,' by Willie Panik Goodwin, Sr. It is currently only announced for PS4, and will arrive on July 28.
According to the announcement on the PS Blog, Foxtales will have more complex and varied puzzles, as well as new environments and abilities for each of the characters.
Foxtales is set around the waters and coasts of Northwest Alaska. To help Nuna and Fox in this new location, they will be able to row canoes and interact with spirits to change the flow of underwater currents.

Gearbox Working on 'Authentic' New Brothers in Arms Title
Gearbox Software is working on a new "authentic" Brothers in Arms title, according to Randy Pitchford.
Speaking to IGN at Develop: Brighton, Pitchford explained the project was still in its early stages and extra help was being sought, but once this was locked down he expected things to happen quickly.
"I think the next Brothers in Arms game has to be authentic and we have been working on that," he says. "I feel we have unfinished business there with both the fiction and the history and I’d like to get into that. I spend a lot of time thinking about it.
"Sadly it takes a lot of resources, energy and money to do what must be done, so it’s not something I feel I could completely do alone. I need good partners for it, so we’ve been talking to great folks but it’s really putting all that together that’s the limiting factor. Once we put all the partnerships together in terms of publishing, collaborators and creatives, we can talk about it.

Goat Simulator Coming to PlayStation Soon
Goat Simulator is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on August 11.
According to the announcement on the PS Blog, "GoatVR" will debut on PlayStation editions of Goat Simulator. "GoatVR is the most authentic 'simulated GoatVR experience' that doesn’t require a helmet or anything," says the post.
"Although it’s not quite ready yet we felt it better to stay ahead of the crowd and let it out into the wild. We still need to do that part where it connects to an actual headset but for now you can enjoy a simulated GoatVR experience without it."
A score multiplier has also been added, and local co-op allows for two players on a PS3 and four players on a PS4 to join in on the wacky action.

PlayStation Now Entering Open Beta Today in UK
Sony has announced that PlayStation Now is entering open beta today in the UK.
PlayStation Now is a service for streaming PS3 games to your PS4 that has been in closed beta since spring. During the beta, games will initially be offered for rental only, but a subscription service will be coming later this summer.
The prices on rentals will range from £3 to £8 depending on the game, and you will be able to rent games for periods of 48 hours or 30 days. Some games included in the beta are Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, The Last of Us, Dead Space 3, Bioshock Infinite, and Mirror's Edge.

Gearbox has Done Concept Development For New Duke Nukem
Gearbox CEO has revealed the studio has already done concept work for a new Duke Nukem game.
Speaking during his opening keynote at Develop: Brighton, Pitchford explained he didn't secure the Duke Nukem license merely to release the ill-fated Duke Nukem Forever.
"I did not acquire the franchise merely so we could all experience Duke Nukem Forever. That was the toll to pay to give Duke a chance. That said, I liked that game," he said. "I got to see it from a slightly different perspective and it was marvellous to me.
"We’ve done some concept development
and I think the challenges are there. Gearbox is very busy. I think the faster way is that a correct developer can become interested and we can work with them. I think it’s a challenging problem. But, I’ll tell you one thing. When it does happen, there’s no doubt that the whole industry will turn its head and look.

The SEGA Rally Reboot That Nobody Bought
In the mid ‘90s, SEGA Rally Championship was one of the most iconic racing games around. It was an integral part of the booming arcade scene; a demonstration of just what could be done with the rapidly changing 3D-focused hardware. It was fast, smooth and handled like a dream.
Fast forward to 2007 and SEGA Rally’s star was waning somewhat. The 1999 Dreamcast port of SEGA Rally 2 was but a distant memory, and – for whatever reason – SEGA Rally 2006 on PS2 was only released in South Korea and Japan. What the series needed was an incredible reboot. A game that would be both a technical showcase and a thrilling, super smooth return to form for SEGA Rally.
That game, my friends, was SEGA Rally Revo (or just SEGA Rally, depending on where you live), and not only did it seemingly sink without a trace, it was also at least partially responsible for killing the studio that was set up to create it.

Fighting Game Sale on PS4, PS3, and Vita Celebrates EVO 2015
To celebrate the upcoming EVO 2015 fighting game tournament, Sony has launched a sale featuring fighting games discounted up to 60 percent across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
PlayStation 4 features a number of recent fighting game releases, including discounts on Mortal Kombat X, WWE 2K15, Towerfall Ascension, and Guilty Gear Xrd Sign. The bulk of the discounts can be found on PlayStation 3, including sales on Ultra Street Fighter IV, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle, Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma, and Darkstalkers Resurrection.
Sales on PlayStation Vita include several Street Fighter Alpha games, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter x Tekken, among others.

Kojima's Name Removed From Metal Gear Solid 5 Box Art
The saga that is the deteriorating relationship between Konami and Hideo Kojima continues as the publisher has decided to remove all references to the Metal Gear Solid creator from the box art for The Phantom Pain.
The latest pack shots were uploaded yesterday, and NeoGAF users spotted a couple of changes appear to have been made. You can see the old box art below on the left, with the new one on the right. In the bottom left of each cover the Kojima Productions logo has been removed, while "A Hideo Kojima Game" is also absent from just below the console masthead.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Reveals Coming to D23
Disney's D23 event in August will have new intel on Star Wars: Battlefront, which attendees can go hands-on with, the Star Wars-themed Disney Infinity 3.0, and Kingdom Hearts III.
On Sunday, August 16, Disney will show off "never-before-seen gameplay, trailers, new reveals, and surprises from Disney Interactive’s most anticipated games. Among the games participating in the presentation are: Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, Star Wars: Battlefront from Electronic Arts, and Kingdom Hearts III from Square Enix."
It's worth noting Kingdom Hearts III is the only non-Star Wars game here. Disney may have an all-purpose "Disney Interactive" showcase during D23, but this may suggest Star Wars could be part of the Kingdom Hearts reveals.

Jade Raymond's New Studio to Work on Hennig's Star Wars
Jade Raymond has announced she is opening a new development studio called Motive.
Motive will be based in Montreal, Canada, and is an Electronic Arts studio. In her announcement post about the new outlet, Raymond promised while new franchises would be coming, the first project they're set to work on is Amy Hennig's Star Wars game that is currently under development at Visceral Games. To help facilitate this, Raymond will also oversee Visceral's California studio.
The post also highlights that Motive will work "in close quarters" with the BioWare Montreal team currently at work on Mass Effect: Andromeda.
"I'm a huge fan of the games that have come out of Visceral and I feel honoured to be working with such a talented team led by studio GM Scott Probst," she writes. "I've also known Amy for years and have admired her work on the Uncharted games! I’m thrilled that the first big project that we will work on in Montreal will have Amy as Creative Director. An opportunity to work with her and the Visceral team, and to play in the Star Wars universe, is once-in-a-lifetime stuff."

Sackboy Will Be in Tony Hawk's 5 For PS Users
PlayStation exclusive content and new details about the online multiplayer in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 have been revealed.
Josh Tsui, president of developer Robomodo, divulged the new information on the PlayStation Blog today. PlayStation users will be getting Ratchet, Sweet Tooth, and Sackboy as unique character heads in the PS3 and PS4 versions. However, there will be no online play in the PlayStation 3 version of the game, which means it will cost $40 instead of $60.
"Freeskate levels serve as lobbies for up to 20 players," Tsui writes. "They act as hubs where players can hang out and skate between different missions and online matches."

MGS Voice Actor Confirms Kojima Productions' Disbanding
The Japanese voice actor for Solid Snake, Akio Otsuka, has confirmed the impending closure of Kojima Productions.
"Kojima Productions was forced to disband, but it appears that the work that the team has been putting their utmost effort into is nearly complete," Otsuka said in a post on Twitter (via Gematsu).
"I’m not exaggerating when I say that I expect it will become their greatest masterpiece. I couldn’t help it. I just wanted to say 'Kept you waiting, huh?' (Laughs.) But even if this is the end, Metal Gear Solid is immortal!"

New LEGO Marvel's Avengers Characters and Screens Revealed
At San Diego Comic Con today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment showed off new screens and characters from its upcoming LEGO Marvel's Avengers.
Comics icon Stan Lee took to the stage during the WB panel to show off "his very own Iron Man armor," as well as a special Hulkbuster suit modeled after Stan himself called the Stan-Buster.
Stan Lee's special suits draw inspiration from both their original source material and Stan the Man himself. His Iron Man suit includes a signature Stan Lee mustache on the helmet, and the Stan-Buster suit incorporates his glasses and a smart, sensible cardigan and button-down shirt.
Also revealed during the panel were Sam Wilson as Captain America, America Chavez, and villain Crossbones.

Grand Theft Auto: Daniel Radcliffe Talks BBC Movie
Daniel Radcliffe was cast as Rockstar Games' Sam Houser for BBC's upcoming film about the making of Grand Theft Auto, and the Harry Potter star discussed violence, the lawsuit, and more with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con.
"It was a lot of fun to play Sam Houser," Radcliffe said. "I think people who love the games will really be interested in how they came together.... It takes place from after Vice City was released during San Andreas. It's about the Hot Coffee incident, and Jack Thompson is involved."
Radcliffe also discussed the influence of the series' violence, and disagreed with the notion that Grand Theft Auto, as some such as Thompson suggest, is responsible for violent behavior. "It's too simplistic," he said.

Are Horror Games Having a Renaissance?
Amanda Ripley is in a vent. The air feels heavy in here; thick. Her hands, which are actually your hands, leave sweaty palm-prints on the metal as you scramble toward the light. It’s hopeless, of course, the thud of heavy feet preludes the inevitable, and you claw out at air before the xenomorph is in there, right there, hungry for you.

Alien Isolation is, arguably, the poster-child for what feels like a “horror renaissance.” It’s a snapshot of tone - claustrophobic, menacing - and mechanics - unforgiving, sophisticated - that’s at the bleeding edge of all that’s cool in horror game-making today.
Ten years ago, horror looked very different. In the mainstream space, good looking and well crafted games like Resident Evil 4 and F.E.A.R were spinning big bucks. The “golden age” of Japanese-dominated survival horror had been brought to its knees by a new-found focus on slick graphics, explosive set-pieces and layers of upgrading systems. In other words, horror games were looking more like action games, and action games made money.

Bookmark this page and come back on Wednesday, July 15th for the very best deals from Amazon Prime day. What is Prime Day? It's a little slice of Black Friday shopping right in the middle of July. Well, really it's more like Cyber Monday, since you'll be buying from home, and won't have to huddle in a parking lot next to a stranger you're about to elbow drop over a toaster oven.
Amazon is claiming that Prime Day will have better deals than Black Friday. GTA Online Weekend Event Begins Today
In the wake of GTA Online's second Ill-Gotten Gains update, developer Rockstar Games has announced a weekend multiplayer event set to run July 10-12.
The Event will feature several different activities, each yielding rewards such as special t-shirts, in-game currency, and double RP. A majority of the activities are custom made to allow players the chance to show off and test out the new weapons and vehicles available in the recent patch.
Players can test out new vehicles in the special event playlist races and compete for double GTA$ and RP for slipstreams, overtakes, and more. Deathmatches, Golf, and Tennis all feature double RP, specially-picked Daily Objectives will dole out new t-shirts as a reward. Finally, the Rockstar Editor Contest challenges players to create unique videos showing off their gear and friends for the chance to win GTA V-themed packs and high-end PC accessories.

Resident Evil Zero: From Prototype to HD Remaster
Did you know Resident Evil Zero was originally supposed to be a Nintendo 64 game? Halfway through development, Capcom canned the N64 version, which was due in 2000, and started work on the GameCube version that came out in 2002. You can see some of the earliest footage in the video above, which follows Resident Evil Zero's evolution from prototype to HD remaster.
The N64 prototype of Resident Evil Zero boasts the same bright colors and angular characters as the earliest Resident Evil games. The much darker, grimier GameCube version we know today shares a similar style to the Resident Evil REmake, also from 2002.
Resident Evil Zero follows the adventure of Rebecca Chambers, a member of the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team that the protagonists of the first Resident Evil were sent out to rescue following a helicopter crash.

Heroes Will Be Able To Play With Villains In DC Universe Online
DC Universe Online is getting an update to allow Villains to team up with Heroes.
Announced via creative director Jens Andersen’s Twitter account, the future update will allow both sides to play PvE missions alongside one another.
“DC just approved cross faction PvE,” writes Andersen. “Yup! Is Suicide Squad & Task Force X coming to an instance near you?”
Andersen goes on to briefly mention how it’ll work, explaining that while Heroes won’t be able to enter Villains’ main hub – and vice-versa – they will be able to team up through the game’s On Duty tab.
As yet, there's no mention of a release window, but stay tuned to IGN for further updates.

Ubisoft Sales Fall, PS4 its Most Popular Platform
Ubisoft has revealed its financials for the quarter ending June 30, reporting a 73 percent year-on-year decline in sales to €96.6 million.
While this exceeds the company's target of €80 million, it's still a big drop from last year's €360.1 million, which was hit largely thanks to Watch Dogs.
The French publisher is attributing the above-expectations results to a 59 percent increase in back-catalog sales, including a "better-than-expected performance" by Assassin's Creed Unity and "sustained demand" for Far Cry 4, The Crew and Watch Dogs. Digital revenues also totaled €54.1 million, which was 56 percent of total sales compared with only 23 percent a year ago.
In terms of sales by platform, 27 percent of the company's revenue came from PS4 titles. PC is in second place with 23 percent, which is quite a leap from the 14 percent it made up at the same time last year. The PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One are all responsible for around 11 percent of revenue, which is somewhat surprising. Finally, the Wii and Wii U make up 3 percent of sales - a small increase from last year's 2 percent.

Become a Zombie in Call of Duty: Black Ops III
Activision has today launched a new campaign via charity fundraising platform Omaze that will give Call of Duty fans a chance to be immortalised as a zombie in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III.
The campaign itself will raise money for the Call of Duty Endowment, a non-profit organisation geared around funding a network of other non-profits focussed on securing solid careers for veterans following their service. It’s aiming to place 25,000 veterans in jobs by the end of 2018.
Fans can enter the running to be zombified by donating $10 USD or more to the Call of Duty Endowment via Omaze. There are a range of bonuses on offer for larger donations, which will also glean you more chances to win. The winner will ultimately be flown to LA, all expenses paid, and reimagined as a zombie at Treyarch for an appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops III DLC. He or she will also have lunch with Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia and receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the studio behind the game.

New Doctor Who Gameplay from LEGO Dimensions
Here's a look at Doctor Who in action in Warner Bros.' insane pop culture mash-up, LEGO Dimensions.
A new trailer shows the TARDIS in Gotham City, the Doctor and Homer Simpson battling alongside one another in Portal's Aperture Science (!), a Scooby Doo encounter and more. Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez will voice the characters they play in the BBC show - the 12th Doctor, Clara Oswald and Missy respectively - in the game.

Injustice: Year Four #5 Review
This issue of Injustice is more reminiscent of the video game source material than any before it, as it revolves largely around two characters locked in single combat and fighting to the death. If that's all issue #5 had to offer, it wouldn't be a very memorable read. Luckily, Brian Buccellato keeps the focus on characterization over spectacle, thereby maintaining the fundamental appeal this comic has boasted from the beginning.
The two characters in question are Superman and Wonder Woman, with the two having been tricked into a duel by Batman. This is one of those cases where knowledge of the game's storyline drains this battle of any real drama. But that's not the point. The two chapters collected in this issue use that duel as a backdrop as Buccellato fleshes out several characters. In the first chapter, Hal Jordan reflects on the nature of fear and willpower, and why the lack of the former in Superman is a troubling thought.

Completing the Same Metal Gear 5 Mission 4 Different Ways
Konami has released a new video of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's "A Hero's Way" mission that was shown at E3, showcasing a further four ways to complete the objectives.
As creator Hideo Kojima promised, the new video shows a number of different approaches, including bringing along a different buddy, other types of equipment, or just using other methods entirely.
If you need a refresher, the E3 2015 demo is below. In this version, the mission is completed using Walker Gear.
Moving onto the new gameplay video, four chapters each around seven minutes in length detail a number of other approaches that can be taken to complete the mission.

Dragon Quest Builders Appears on the Series' Website
'Dragon Quest Builders' has appeared on the series' official Japanese website.
Nothing is known about the game so far, other than what we can glean from its bare-bones page. It's exclusive to PlayStation platforms (including the Vita), it has a blocky, Minecraft-esque aesthetic, and the below text reads "restore "Alefgard".
The Dragon Quest news has been flowing in lately, with the announcements that Dragon Quest 11 will be an offline home console game and Dragon Quests 7 and 8 might be coming to the West.

Portal Creator Kim Swift to Give Keynote Speech at PAX Prime 2015
PAX Prime's featured "Storytime" Keynote speaker is one of the creative minds behind Portal.
Kim Swift currently works as Senior Game Designer at Amazon Game Studios and has previously worked on games such as Left 4 Dead, Quantum Conundrum, and Soul Fjord.
She'll be sharing stories and insight about her career at this year's PAX Prime convention in Seattle, WA. The event is scheduled to run from August 28-31.
In addition to Swift, several musical artists will perform during PAX Prime, including the Protomen, Returners, Bit Brigade, 7bit Hero, FreezePop, and MC Frontalot.

The prize is an exclusive emblem in the shared-world shooter, which Bungie says will only be available this one time. To attain the reward, Destiny players must finish 10 challenges, called the Moments of Triumph, before September 9.
